We are using 100 items (20 from each team member) to create a vehicle for a particular location. We had to ask questions about our location, imagine the possibilities, plan our design with the materials given, create a vehicle using all 100 items, redesign when needed, and prepare a presentation for the STEM fair on February 5th. What location did your child choose? What vehicle did their team decide to create? Ask them about the self evaluation rubric they completed. Did they get all smiley faces or were there challenges?

Surprisingly, the ice cream was their favorite part!... Although the bus ride was probably a close second! After going to Kroger on our first field trip and now Mayfield for our second, one first grader asked "Do you always wear a hairnet on field trips?" We were able to see packaging of milk in gallons, pints, and cartons. We also saw ice cream packaging. Does your child remember the most popular flavor of ice cream?
This is intense stuff! Shu was our first successful moon rock collector! We will continue testing and redesigning our robo-arms tomorrow. I hope all of our astronauts are able to collect a moon rock! What changes to the design does your team need to make?
