We have been practicing all week for our upcoming show! We will have a dress rehearsal Monday morning at 8:15am. Monday evening, your child needs to in our classroom at 5:45pm. We will go to the gym for our 6:00 performance. Please have your child wear orange and white unless they have a character costume. We will stand on the left side of the stage so the right side of the gym is probably your best spot to see your child perform. Please have your child practice their parts and songs over the weekend. With the snow days and school break, we have not had a lot of rehearsal time at school. This is a great opportunity for practicing the Speaking and Listening skills listed in our 1st grade standards. We hope you enjoy the show and learn something new about Tennessee!

Tell us what books you read during Spring Break. Did you enjoy the book? Was it exciting, scary, or sad? Are you going to try that same author again? Do you think a friend would enjoy that book too? Your brain is growing every time you read!
How can we help the folks on Rocky Top grow fresh corn? This week, we are trying to solve an issue with rocky soil. We are designing a gardening tool to remove rocks from soil. What design feature must this tool have? Ask your child how they plan to remove and collect rocks from the soil. They will solve a math problem while testing their garden tool. Can your child remove all 20 rocks from the soil? This week, we are learning about our state of Tennessee. We are switching classes to work with other teachers on different topics. We have learned about Tennessee geography and world geography related to TN. Today, we will learn all the fun facts about Tennessee such as the state bird, tree, and insect. Can your child tell you details about Tennessee? We will also learn our state representatives, city and county mayor, and important people from history connected to TN. This is an exciting week!
The drizzle and potential winter weather has kept us out of school another day! If your child would like to practice this week's skills they can do both of these padlet walls for review. http://padlet.com/Dulin/m0sz0oi8sbrj http://padlet.com/Reagan/Dul_Willie Also, they can practice their spelling words using Spelling City. We are on lesson 23 and will plan to test when we return to school. Follow this link: http://www.spellingcity.com/Deedulin/ Advanced spellers should be sure to review the advanced list for lesson 23. I hope everyone stays safe and warm! |
