We rotated through several games and relay stations for field day fun. Our special area teachers designed 6 different races involving water, partners, and team excitement. Even the teachers got involved with an ice bucket, feet-fishing competition! Ask your child who won!
Another fun experience to celebrate our successful fundraiser! We had a great time squirting Mr. Blevins, and he was such a good sport about it!
We loved learning from Maryville Junior High Biology teacher, Dr. Hebert. He is an oceanographer! He shared some of his diving experiences, knowledge of diving equipment, and the responsibilities of scientists. He showed us videos from experiments in Hawaii and talked about current and tide research. Dr. Hebert reminded us of the importance of math, reading, and writing in this field of study, but he also inspired us to do what we enjoy! He explained diving instruments and the importance of each tool too. Thank you Dr. Hebert!
Thank you to our great PTO for a fun experience celebrating our fundraising efforts from the Smokie Strut! We had another great visit from the MUSE today! The East Tennessee Discovery Center came today to teach us about Oceans! We learned about whales, squid, and sea habitats. We got touch touch and see many creatures from the ocean. We held whale teeth and touched the inside of a whales mouth. What a great way to start our Down By The Sea Adventure! Next week, we will learn about pirates, the Titanic, scuba diving and more! Will was a squid and helped us learn about the food chain! The squid ate some of our friends!
Today, we celebrated students in a school-wide awards ceremony. Allison was recognized as our TEAM winner for showing positive academic and behavior examples for our class. Lauren won the spirit award for the Smokie Strut for her participation effort and enthusiasm supporting others. We had two students with perfect attendance! Great job boys staying healthy and making your education a priority! Congratulations Shu and Colin!
We have completed a full year in 1st grade and have so much information to share. We have written letters to our Kindergarten friends to help answers some of their questions about 1st grade. We want them to be excited and know what to expect. Check out some of our iMovie trailers we created to share with the soon-to-be 1st graders from Kindergarten!
Thank you Danielle Woods for the Fabulous pictures!
