Our story, A Tree is a Plant inspired us to explore seeds. We used magnifying glasses and broke seeds and beans apart to see inside. Guess what we found? Ask your child what they observed. They then planted several beans to see if we can grow a sprout!
Ryleigh was named our Key Winner for Flexibility. She demonstrates flexibility in our classroom throughout the day as we adjust groups, changes subjects of study, and rotate specials classes. She also demonstrates flexibility outside of school as she spends time with her parents, brother, and grandmother.
Thank you Dr. Talley for coming to our school and talking to us about how and when to approach a dog, how to tell if a dog is friendly, and what to do if we encounter an unfriendly dog. We know how to "be a tree" or "act like a log". We also know we should tell an adult if we see a dog without an owner. This lesson is sponsored by UT Vet school and the materials sent home were donated by Big Springs Animal Hospital and UT Vet school. Thank you for sharing this great extension to our story Whistle for Willie and this important information about how to stay safe and have fun with dogs!
This morning's dress rehearsal was a HIT! I am so proud of our speakers and singers. Hope you can join us at 6:00pm for our last performance. Here's a sneak peek: Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top, Dirt's too rocky by far That's why all the folks on Rocky Top, Get their corn from a jar. The people on Rocky Top are tired of jarred corn. They want fresh corn! They want to grow their own corn! What can they do about that rocky soil? They need your engineering help! Can you design a tool to help them clean up their rocky soil? This week, we are learning about Tennessee. We have several Social Studies standards embedded in our program and have continued that learning by rotating classes to learn more about our great state. During our STEM integration time, we are solving a soil problem for the folks on Rocky Top. We studied the lyrics to one of our state songs and started designing tools. We are using our subtraction knowledge to prove our soil is ready to plant corn. Ask your child about their team's design, their tool testing, and how they used subtraction to help them!
